Takeaway: Say it with a picture—by adding a picture to your Access tabs! Mary Ann Richardson explains how you can create visual aids by adding pictures to your Access tabs.

Sometimes a picture says it better. Adding a picture to an Access tab control makes it easier to identify its function. For example, you can add a picture of a printer to a tab that includes commands for previewing and printing reports; or a picture of an address book to a tab that includes commands for searching employee addresses. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the form in Design View.
  2. Click the Tab control tool in the Toolbox.
  3. Click and drag where you want the tab to be located in your form.
  4. Double-click the Page1 tab.
  5. Under Format, click in the Caption property box and enter Print record.
  6. Click in the Picture property box and click the Build button.
  7. Select Printer from the Available Pictures List and click OK.
  8. Double-click on the Page2 tab.
  9. Under Format, click in the Caption property box and enter Find Addresses.
  10. Click in the Picture property box and click the Build button.
  11. Select Address Book from the Available Pictures List and click OK.
