Takeaway: Probably one of the least used keys on your keyboard is the Windows key. Do you know what it's used for? This FastAnswer will show you the basic shortcuts you can do using the Windows key.

Save time. TechProGuild members can download the preformatted, ready-to-print version of this FastAnswer handout. The next time the problem arises in your organization, simply print and distribute the file directly to end users or members of your IT staff.

The problem

Many keyboards today include the Windows key between [Ctrl] and [Alt] keys, but there's never an explanation about what the key is used for.

Around the time Microsoft shipped Windows 95, it also produced the Microsoft Natural Keyboard. This was the first keyboard to include the Windows key function. Now the Windows key is a common, if little known or used, function on most modern keyboards. The Windows allows users to quickly do things without having to reach for the mouse.
