Novell serves up a six-pack of patches

Takeaway: In the last week, Novell has released a multitude of patches. While most of them are minor, Exterminator found two related to the Padlock Fix from a couple weeks ago. Trend Micro serves up the usual viruses, but Microsoft admins get a well-deserved break.

Exterminator brings you weekly updates on bug fixes, virus recovery, service release announcements, and security notices for Windows, Novell, Linux, and other systems.

Novell issues
Regarding: DeFrame, OnDemand, OnDemand 1.5

This download fixes two relatively minor glitches in OnDemand, including a load balancing issue. Novell warns, however, that the patch has been tested only with OnDemand 1.5. If you have a different version, proceed with caution.

Remember the Padlock Fix from two weeks ago? This download contains compressed client engines for that fix. It's designed to speed up the download of the engines when applying the fix.

Regarding: NetWare 4.2, intraNetWare 4.11

If you want to install Dell's new OpenManage-Array Manager on your NetWare 4 system, you need to grab this download to install the necessary Winsock files. If you don't, Dell's product will not install properly.

Regarding: NetWare 5, NetWare 5.1, Novell Small Business Suite 5.1

NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 3 contains Service Location Protocol (SLP) files. Novell is providing them separately, in case you want to install them without the complete support pack. These files include all the SLP fixes so far.

Novell presents Support Pack 1 for NFS 3.0. The highlight of the Support Pack is that you will now be able to use NFS in a Novell Clustered environment.
